High-Current, Low-Impedance Drive
Dynamic passages in music and film soundtracks can see impedance spike and dip dramatically for short periods. This can place up to 10 times the usual load on your amplifier, and if it can't meet power demands, sound quality suffers. Onkyo's high-current low-impedance WRAT (Wide Range Amp Technology) design uses an EI transformer to help drive your speakers accurately, even under heavy loads.

The TX-8220 has fully discrete output stage circuitry with heavy-duty transistors to control running temperatures, lower distortion, and increase the life of the product.
A/B Speaker Posts for Multi-Room Audio
The TX-8220 features two sets of speaker posts, allowing you to connect up to two pairs of speakers. The receiver is designed to drive either a single pair of speakers rated at 4 to 16 Ohms, or two pairs of 8- to 16-Ohm speakers, allowing you to enjoy the same audio source in two rooms at once, or to switch between two sets of speakers in the same room.
Independent Bass, Treble, & Balance Controls
Bass, treble, and balance controls are useful for optimizing the tonal characteristics of your music. These circuits let you fine-tune the sound to your own taste with no perceived loss in audio quality.
